Kilty B’s win streak comes to an end

The Hamilton Kilty B’s were defeated 5-2 by the Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs in their final home game on Thursday night at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

In the first period, the Kilty B’s had a pair of chances on the powerplay after a Caledonia hook and hold but were unable to capitalize. Later, the Corvairs’ Steven Laforme would tip home the opening goal to put Caledonia ahead 1-0.

The B’s had more great scoring opportunities but were upended again late in the first. Caledonia’s Calvin Crombie scored unassisted to extend their lead.

In the second period, Hamilton came close to scoring again on a cross-ice pass to Dawson McKinney who ripped it off the cross bar and into the ceiling.

Crombie would get on the board again later in the second, this time tapping home a far-side rebound to make it 3-0.

The Corvairs would then make it 4-0 on a pass into the slot, right to Dominic Mufarreh who slipped it upstairs past Leland Gill.

Hamilton finally got on the board early in the third period while on the power play. Noah Vandenbrink fed Dawson McKinney with a one timer that just got by the Corvairs goaltender to make it 4-1.

McKinney would score again on a wrister from the left side with just over seven minutes left to play. McKinney has now racked up 29 goals on the season with one game to play.

Caledonia would once again head to the powerplay after a hard hit by Aaron Chairot. Mufarreh would score his second of the night to make it 5-2, the final score.

With this loss, the Kilty B’s still sit in the two-spot nearing the start of the playoffs. Hamilton’s final regular season game will be on Sat, Feb 25 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Erie Leisureplex where they’ll take on the third place Meteors.
