Kilty B’s win third straight in Welland

The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Welland Jr. Canadians 4-2 on the road on Sunday night at the Welland Main Arena.

Connor Haynes scored the lone goal in the first period on a drop pass in the slot from Luca Campolo. His eighteenth goal of the season beat the Welland netminder over his glove in the top right corner.

In the second, Welland clapped back with two goals of their own, the first of which came just over a minute into the period.

A few Kilty B’s swarmed in the corner, battling for the puck when it slipped out the back of the scrum and straight to Welland’s Anthony Dicarmine who tied the game at one.

Minutes later, on the powerplay, Welland’s Matthew Schlosser fired a shot from the point, through a screen, and past David Egorov, putting the Jr. Canadians ahead 2-1.

Later in the second period, Hamilton’s Nathan Omeri stormed end to end with the puck, sniped the Welland goalie’s water bottle and tied the game at two.

Just a few minutes after, Dawson McKinney scored on a beautiful spinning back-handed pass from Noah Vandenbrink to take the lead. McKinney reached 50 points on the season in his thirty-fifth game.

Carson Lloyd put the game away for the B’s in the third period with around six minutes to play. Lloyd rifled a shot top shelf from the board-side of the right circle and through a few bodies for his fifth goal of the year.

David Egorov stopped 19 of 21 shots to record his fourteenth win of the season in just seventeen starts.

With this win, the B’s move to (32-6-5) on the year and remain in second in the Golden Horseshoe Conference with just six regular season games remaining.

Hamilton plays their next game on Thursday, January 9 at 7 p.m. against the Fort Erie Meteors at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.
