Abbamont stars with four-point night as Kilty B’s take down Pelham Panthers

It was all Hamilton from the get-go in their (5-1) Monday night victory versus the Pelham Panthers at Dave Andreychuk Arena.

A four-point night from Dylan Abbamont led the charge for the Kilty B’s (25-6-0-0) in their third game in the past four days.

The Kilty B’s leading goal-scorer started the scoring with his 21st of the season, a one-timer from the slot just over seven minutes in, on a nice find by Nolan Underwood.

The lead was stretched to two when Nathan Phillips got the puck in front of the net after an offensive zone faceoff, and deked out the Panthers netminder with just over a minute to play in the period for his 8th of the season.

Second period goals from Underwood (14) and Abbamont (22) gave Hamilton a 4-1 lead heading into the final frame.

Adam Clark added his first of the season three minutes into the third, on a shot from the point that beat the screened goalie.

Jonah Devereaux (4) was the lone goal scorer for Pelham (11-18-1-0), on a power play one-timer midway through the second period that briefly made the game 3-1.

John Burbridge (0-7-0-1) got the start in goal for the Panthers, stopping 32 in a losing effort.

Gage Stewart rebounded well for Hamilton after suffering his second defeat of the season last time out on Saturday, but a 27 save outing Monday nabs his 16th win of the season.

The Kilty B’s next game is on Friday night, at home against the Welland Jr. Canadians.
