Kilty B’s take Game Two of Conference Finals

The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs 4-2 in Game Two of the Golden Horseshoe Conference Finals at Chedoke Arena.

Dawson McKinney opened the scoring for Hamilton on the power-play in the first period. McKinney was left alone on the back post and put home the pass from Connor Haynes and Nathan Omeri for his fifth goal of the playoffs. Haynes also has 15 points this post season (4G, 11A).

Caledonia’s Dylan Hunt responded a few minutes later on a breakaway where he wristed a shot past David Egorov to tie the game at one.

In the second period, Zach Vaillaincourt ripped a shot top-shelf from Kyle Burton to give Hamilton the lead once again.

Minutes later, Carson Llyod extended the lead for Hamilton by slapping home his first of the postseason and following it up with a nice celebration.

In the third period, Caldeonia’s Dominic Mufarreh was in alone on a short-handed breakaway before being hauled down and awarded a penalty show as a result. On the ensuing chance, Mufarreh walked up the left side, faked right and pulled it to his backhand to cut the deficit in half, 3-2.

With under two minutes to play in the game, Connor Haynes iced the game for the Kilty B’s. Haynes flicked a shot from the side boards that fooled the Corvairs keeper and made it 4-2, the finals score.

With this win, Hamilton takes a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven conference finals and are now just two wins away from advancing to the Sutherland Cup Playoffs.

The Kilty B’s will play again Sunday, April 2 at the Haldimand County Caledonia Centre. Puck-drop is at 7 p.m.
