Hamilton earns fifth straight victory in Welland

The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Welland Jr. Canadians 6-3 on the road Wednesday night to extend their win streak to five games.

The Kilty B’s jumped in front early with rookie defenseman, Owen Cressman, scoring just over two minutes into the game.

The Jr. Canadians tied the game at one, just 11 seconds after Hamilton’s goal.

Another D-man scored for Hamilton, this time it was Matthew Downie with his second goal of the season and 14th point.

Kilty B’s forward, Justin Monteith, scored twice and had two assists in the game, adding his ninth and tenth goals of the season. Monteith now has 35 points through 24 games this year with Hamilton.

B’s goaltender, David Egorov, got the win making 26 saves on 29 shots and surrendering no goals in the second period on 11 shots. Egorov is now 11-0-1 in his starts with a 2.61 Goals Against Average and a .905 save percentage.

Cressman added his second goal of the night mid-way through the second period to extend Hamilton’s lead to 5-2.

Brodie McIntyre had three assists to put himself up to 18 points this year.

Zach Vaillancourt had two assists in the game for Hamilton but received a 10-minute penalty early in the third period for inciting an opponent.

Dawson McKinney added an empty netter with 1:40 left in the game to make the final 6-3, and hand Welland their fourth straight loss.

With this win the Kilty B’s move to (17-4-3) on the season, good enough for first place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference. The St.Catharines Falcons follow close behind in second place with one less point and a couple games in hand.

Hamilton returns home on Thursday, Nov 24 at 7 p.m. at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena against the Pelham Panthers (2-16-3-1).
