Kilty B’s Abbamont to represent Canada at Inline Hockey World Championships

Hamilton Kilty B’s forward Dylan Abbamont (Burlington, ON) has been selected to represent Team Canada at the upcoming Inline Hockey World Championships taking place in Roccaraso, Italy, September 10-19.

“I found out about making Team Canada when the coach and captain (Pablo Navvaro and Dave Hammond) had called me to let me know,” said Abbamont.

“It’s an unreal experience being able to play against the best of the best internationally in a sport that’s rapidly growing. Nothing beats putting on the red and white and representing our country.”

Abbamont has played two years for Team Canada both being with the men’s junior team. This is his first year making the jump to senior men’s National Canada.

He has played inline hockey for about seven years.  Abbamont started with a local team called the Alkali Coyotes and now plays for a team in California called the Mission Skittles in the Junior D1 and Pro Division.

Sixteen teams from hockey powerhouse nations, as well as others from non-traditional markets such as Argentina, Mexico and Colombia, will take part at this year’s worlds.

Canada has only won the tournament once (in 2002) and has not taken home a medal since taking bronze seven years ago.
