Kilty B’s Defeat Meteors in Overtime at Home

The Hamilton Kilty B’s beat the Fort Erie Meteors 4-3 in overtime on Thursday night at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

In the first period, the Kilty B’s had the puck behind their own net when it took a bad bounce and ended up a going to the wrong team. Fort Erie’s Kyle Adamo poked home the opening goal on an unsuspecting Leland Gill to go up 1-0.

Hamilton later responded with a goal of their own in the second period when Noah Vandenbrink scored his third goal in as many games. Vandenbrink and Connor Haynes were both swatting away at the rebound from Carson Lloyd’s shot attempt, but it was Vandenbrink who finished the job and tied the game at one.

Matthew Duarte took the lead for Hamilton later in the period on the power-play. Duarte whipped home a one-time from one knee on a great pass from Nathan Phillips.

Justin Monteith then extended the lead just a few minutes later on another incredible pass from Phillips. Phillips skated up the right side and pulled off a spinning backhanded pass to Brodie McIntyre in front who put it on a tee for Monteith.

In the third, Hamilton got another unlucky bouce after a shot kicked off the back glass and right to Fort Erie’s Sam Barrett. Not long after, Josh Di Francesco tied it up at three on a screened shot.

In overtime,  Nathan Phillips walked into the zone and rifled home the game-winner to keep the B’s atop the Golden Horseshoe Conference.

The Kilty B’s play their next game on the road Fri, Jan 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Thorold Blackhawks at the Vale Centre.
