Kilty B’s dominate in Game Three

The Hamilton Kilty B’s beat the Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs 6-1 in Game Three of the Golden Horseshoe Conference Finals at the Haldimand County Caledonia Centre on Sunday night.

The B’s took advantage early in the first when rookie forward, Tyler Hopkins, got his first point in his first game with Hamilton. Hopkins took a shot from the point that was then put home by Brodie McIntyre to take a 1-0 lead.

Connor Haynes extended the lead on the power-play later in the second on a great play from in tight. Haynes came from behind the net, received a pass from Nathan Phillips then spun and scored from point blank.

Marquise Brown joined the party as well with a goal of his own shortly after. Brown got the pass at the blueline from Aaron Chairot before winding up and scoring his first of the playoffs to give Hamilton a secure 3-0 lead.

The Corvairs netted their only goal on the power-play when Calvin Crombie found an open net thanks to a big rebound.

In the second period, Tyler Hopkins was credited his first OGJHL goal. Marquise Brown made another nice play from the point, putting the puck on net to be cleaned up by Hopkins.

Minutes later, Dawson McKinney scored his sixth goal of the playoffs to put the game pretty much out of reach. McKinney got the puck alone in front on an odd-man rush from Nathan Phillips and deked out the Corvairs goalie to make it 5-1.

Ryan Woodburn put the exclamation point on the game in the third period when he scored on a scramble in front of the Caledonia net.

With this win, the Kilty B’s take a strangle hold on the series, up 3-0, and are one game away from advancing.

Hamilton will play again in Caledonia on Wednesday night for Game Four. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
