Kilty B’s fall 5-3 in Caledonia

The Hamilton Kilty B’s lost on the road to the Pro-Fit Corvairs on Saturday night, their first losing effort since Nov 10.

The opening goal came just over two minutes in, when Caledonia was on the receiving end of a Hamilton turnover near their own net and Clark Dunford capitalized to make it 1-0.

Later in the first, the Kilty B’s tied the game at one on the power-play. It was Nathan Phillips with a nice cross-ice pass to Owen Cressman who snapped home his fourth goal of the season.

Caledonia took the lead back less than four minutes later, when Alex Stewart potted it past a sprawling Leland Gill.

The second period was all Caledonia as they extended their lead with two goals less than a minute apart. Markus Dempewolf made it 5-1 with his second goal of the game near the end of the frame.

Hamilton answered in the third period on a power-play goal by Nathan Omeri. The Kilty B’s special teams were a bright spot for them in this game, despite the loss, they were one for one on the penalty-kill and two for five on the power-play.

Connor Haynes made it 5-3 late in the third period with his sixteenth goal of the campaign, assisted by Nathan Pihillips and Brodie McIntyre. Phillips has now racked up 40 points on the season with 19 goals and 21 assists.

Hamilton (23-5-3) now sits in second place in the Golden Horsehoe Conference, three points back of St. Catharines (25-3-2).

The Kilty B’s play their final game of 2022 this Thurs, Dec 22 at 10 a.m. against the Fort Erie Meteors (20-7-3) at Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.
