Kilty B’s fall in overtime

The Hamilton Kilty B’s lost to the Pro-Fit Corvairs 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night in Caledonia.

In the first period, Matthew Duarte scored a power-play goal on a mad scramble in front of the Caledonia net to put the B’s up 1-0. Duarte has four points in his last two games (3G, 1A).

Caledonia’s Tanner Hunt tied it at one minutes later when he shovelled home the rebound from Markus Dempewolf’s shot.

In the second, Luca Campolo received a pass from Zach Vaillancourt right in the slot and snapped home his eighth goal of the season.

One minute after the Campolo goal, Caledonia’s Clark Dunford got a through-pass and squeezed a shot between Leland Gill’s left shoulder and the post to tie the game at two goals apiece.

In the third period, Dawson McKinney whipped a cross-ice pass to Noah Vandenbrink wh- buried the go-ahead goal. McKinney tallied his twenty-fourth assist of the year and Vandenbrink now has 11 points in his last eight games (8G, 3A).

Then, the Corvairs were able to tie the game late on a Zach Ladd goal that sent the contest to an extra frame.

Just forty-four seconds into overtime, Dominic Mufarreh skated into the Hamilton zone and put the game winner past Gill to upset the B’s.

So far in 2023, Hamilton has a record on 6-3 (.667), in 2022 they went 24-4-2 (.800). The B’s still sit in second place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference, five points up on Fort Erie with a game in hand.

The Kilty B’s play their next game on Sunday, Jan 29 against the Pelham Panthers at 2:45 p.m. at the Pelham Accipiter.
