The Kilty B’s beat Blackhawks to extend their win streak to seven games

The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Thorold Blackhawks 3-0 on Thursday night at Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

The KIlty B’s got their second straight shutout and Dawson McKinney notched a point for the thirteenth straight game.

Eleven seconds into the game Hamilton, zipped down and scored on a shot from Brodie McIntyre, who came at the net, to tap in the pass from Justin Monteith and Dawson McKinney.

The Kilty B’s had some great puck movement in the offensive zone early on, something Head Coach Ken Peroff has mentioned.

“I’m obviously happy with the win streak, and we’re doing a lot of great things,” Peroff said. “I’m still pretty new with the team myself, so just continuing to work on some structure details. The power play as well needs to improve”.

Hamilton’s powerplay was 0 for 4 on the night, but the penalty kill unit was 5 for 5.

Leland Gill got a shut out for the second straight game with 24 saves, giving him his seventh win in 11 starts.

Jordan Monteith netted his thirteenth goal of the season on a breakaway, just over four minutes into the second period. Monteith leads the team with 39 points in 26 games.

Late in the second, Hamilton looked like they had buried another goal, but it was waved off immediately by the referee. The net was dislodged just before the puck trickled across the goal-line.

Kilty B’s forward, Nathan Philips, scored his team-leading, sixteenth goal to put the game out of reach midway through the third period.

Ken Peroff says the day-to-day process is always a challenge, but “we don’t need to say much to see the guys play motivated”.

Hamilton (19-4-3) will play again on Sun, Dec 4 at 7 p.m. in Welland against the Jr. Canadians (7-17-1-1).
