Hamilton suffers first loss of 2023

The Hamilton Kilty B’s fell 4-1 to the Pro-Fit Corvairs in Caledonia (17-16-0-1) on Saturday night at Haldimand County Caledonia Centre.

The Kilty B’s out-shot their hosts 31-29 but were only able to notch one goal that came in the first period. Noah Vandenbrink scored his fifth of the year, assisted by Carson Lloyd and Justin Monteith. The goal came after Caledonia had already scored two of their own, including one on a penalty shot.

The B’s had four different power-play opportunities and were only able to convert on the one.

Hamilton goaltender, David Egorov, was saddled with his first regulation loss of the season (13-1-1-0).

This game was the first time Hamilton had been held to one goal or less since Nov. 10, a 14-game stretch. They have been held to one or less goals only twice this season.

With 16 regular season games remaining, the Kilty B’s currently sit in first place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference with a few games in hand on St. Catharines. Hamilton has only suffered a defeat in two of their last 14 games.

The Kilty B’s (25-6-3-0) play again on Wed, Jan. 11 when they’ll travel to Welland to take on the Jr. Canadiens (10-21-2-1) at the Welland Main Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
