Kilty B’s prevail 1-0 over Falcons

Kilty B's Win In Overtime Feb 25th

The two top teams in the GOJHLs Golden Horseshoe division found themselves in a deadlock for most of their game on Friday night, with the Hamilton Kilty B’s eventually prevailing 1-0 over the St. Catharines Falcons.

With just over six minutes remaining, Hamilton defenceman Jonas Mogilnicki got the puck on a Falcons turnover in their own end and sent it towards the net, where Matthew Duarte was perfectly positioned to redirect it for the goal.

Braedyn McIntosh got the shutout for the Kilty B’s (34-7-1-0), stretching their gap to the Falcons atop the standings, which now stands at five points.

The Guelph Storm draft pick stopped all 22 attempts he faced, including a few dangerous St. Catharines scoring chances.

St. Catharines (31-8-1-1) got solid performance at the other end of the ice from Andrew MacLean. The netminder only allowed the one goal on 28 shots, and even that was coming off a defensive zone turnover and tipped by an unmarked man in front of the net.

It was a valuable two points for Hamilton, as their lead at the top of the conference would have been trimmed down to one with a loss, with St. Catharines holding a game in hand.

The Kilty B’s have nearly a full week until their next game, matching up at home against the Niagara Falls Canucks.
