Kilty B's Win In Overtime Feb 25th

The Kilty B’s escaped with a 4-3 OT win over the St. Catharines Falcons on the road on Friday night.

A Nathan Phillips goal on a 2-on-0 break in extra time rescued the game for Hamilton, who held a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.

Matthew Duarte (17, 18) and Liam Galton (11) also scored for the Kilty B’s (31-6-0-0), who have now won seven straight games. Dylan Abbamont and Nolan Underwood both had three assists each.

The teams spent most of the first period feeling each other out before Duarte scored with just three minutes until the buzzer.

The second period was all Kilty B’s, the team extending tripling their lead with goals from Galton and Duarte, and heading into the third with a comfortable lead.

But the Falcons (27-7-1-1) had no plans to go away without a fight. They came out quickly after the intermission, Blake Yetman cracking the code to the safe that was Kilty B’s goalie Bradyn McIntosh up to that point in the game.

Nate Robertson and Jonah Boria both scored before the halfway point in the period, evening the game and sending it to overtime, after nobody scored in the final ten minutes.

Just 41 seconds into the 3-on-3 OT, Abbamont got control of a rebound from a missed St. Catharines chance, and took it the length of the ice, all alone save Phillips who skated with him. Abbamont kept the goalie guessing before passing off to Phillips for the goal.

Andrew MacLean (21-5-1-2) got the nod in net for the Falcons in this one, stopping 26 attempts at his goal.

McIntosh, in the crease for Hamilton, moved to 13-2-0-0 with the win.

The teams match up again on Monday, this time at Dave Andreychuk Arena in Hamilton.
