Croucher comes through in OT to get Kilty B’s back in series

Luke Croucher scored the winner seven minutes into overtime as the Hamilton Kilty B’s pulled out a 4-3 win in Game 3 on Tuesday to inject some life into their second-round series with the St. Catharines Falcons.

The 4-3 win came less than 24 hours after an 8-2 drubbing by the Falcons in Game 2, the worst loss of the season for the Kilty B’s.

Croucher’s clutch goal was his fourth of the playoffs, tying him for the club lead with winger Mason Reeves, who helped set up the winner along with Freddy Teeple.

A year ago, Croucher also stepped up his game in the playoffs by leading the Ancaster Avalanche in post-season goals.

Marc ShannonMark Duarte and Anthony Costantini also scored for the Kilty B’s on Tuesday. Jacob Roach had two and Kyle West had the other for the Falcons, who outshot the Kilty B’s 35-32.

Marco Costantini earned the win in net for Hamilton, making 32 stops.

The young Kilty B’s, who have just four players with 1999 birthdates — whereas the Falcons have 10 born in ’99 and five more in 1998 — will attempt to even the series on Thursday night in Game 4 at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.  Game time is 7 p.m.
