Kilty B’s finish the year with a win

The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Fort Erie Meteors 3-1 at home on Thursday morning in their final game of 2022.

Kilty B’s goalie, David Egorov, had a very solid performance saving 32 of the 33 shots he faced. The only puck that got past Egorov was through a screen whilst on the penalty kill mid-way through the second period.

Nolan Lane looked just as impressive in the opposing goal, stopping 44 of 46 shots fired from Hamilton.

Nathan Omeri got the first one for the B’s on the power-play early in the second. It was a one-timer from the left point set up by Matthew Downie and Dawson McKinney, who both tallied their sixteenth assists of their season on the same play.

Hamilton took a 2-1 lead early into the third, and it was possible thanks to a nice play by Marquise Brown to reach out and keep the puck in the offensive zone. Brown then passed it across the ice to Zach Ladd, who put the puck on net and had it tipped by Matthew Duarte to record his first goal of the season.

Dawson McKinney added an empty netter, his fourteenth goal of the season, with just nine seconds remaining in the third period.

Egorov still has not lost a start this year in regulation, he is (11-0-0-1) with a .910 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average.

Hamilton finishes with a record of (24-5-3) heading into the New Year, in second place behind St. Catharines in the Golden Horseshoe Conference.

The Kilty B’s play their next game on Thurs, Jan 5 at 7 p.m. against the Niagara Falls Canucks at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.
