Kilty B’s capture first Golden Horseshoe Conference Championship

The Hamilton Kilty B’s won the GOJHL Golden Horseshoe Conference Championship with a Game Four victory in Caledonia against the Pro-Fit Corvairs.

Caledonia struck first in the opening frame on a turnover by Hamilton. Calvin Crombie grabbed the puck along the right boards and flicked it towards the net where Ryan O’Donnell put it in the back of the net.

Hamilton responded mid-way through the first with a goal of their own by Dawson McKinney. Justin Monteith brough the puck into the zone up the right side, he backhanded a pass to Nathan Phillips who gave it to McKinney on the far post to score his seventh goal of the playoffs.

Early in the second, Caledonia took the lead back on another turnover in the B’s zone. Crombie again knocked the puck down on a clearing attempt, waited and passed to Tanner Hunt who put it past an outstretched Egorov to go up 2-1.

The Kilty B’s tied the game once more, this time while a man down. Justin Monteith whipped up the right side, skating around everyone before shovelling the puck in front to a wide-open Brodie McIntyre who tapped it home.

After that, it was all Hamilton. The B’s would score again short-handed, this time it was Torin Hession. Hession muscled a Corvairs player off of the puck before taking all the way to the other end a burying a wrist shot to give Hamilton a 3-2 lead.

Dawson McKinney would add the insurance goal late in the third period. Connor Haynes passed it from the far board, right onto McKinney’s stick wide open on the far post again.

Hamilton’s Tyler Hopkins would ice the game with another goal less than a minute later on a beautiful pass by Noah Vandenbrink. 5-2 the final score, securing the trophy for the Kilty B’s.

With this win, Hamilton moves on to the Sutherland Cup playoffs and will be one of three teams in the OGJHL with a chance to hoist it.
