The Kilty B’s lose a heartbreaker in OT.

The Hamilton Kilty B’s lost a wild 7-6 game in overtime at home to the St. Catharines Falcons on Thursday night.

Hamilton’s Brodie McIntyre struck first, with five minutes left in the first period, on a rebound from a Nathan Phillips shot.

The Falcons responded with two of their own just before the end of the period, making it 2-1.

In the second, McIntrye scored again, this time just under a minute into the frame while on the penalty kill. McIntrye received a centering pass from Nathan Omeri and put it in just before the net came off.

Noah Vandenbrink then scored his eleventh goal of the season to give Hamilton a 3-2 lead. Vandenbrink has potted 7 goals in his last five games combined.

St. Catharines once again responded with two more of their own goals, this time it was Parker Forlin and Calvin Petrovsky.

Torin Hession then ripped home a shot from the left side and scored to tie the game at four goals apiece, heading to the third period.

In the third, Dawson McKinney buried one on a Kilty B’s powerplay, after Connor Haynes dished it cross-crease to him.

McKinney scored again, his eighteenth goal of the year, later in the frame to take a 6-5 lead.

Then with time winding down in regulation and the St. Catharines net empty, Hamilton took a shot from their own zone that hit the post square on. After an icing call with five seconds left, a mad scramble ensued, and the Falcons ended up scoring to tie the game at six with less than a second remaining.

In overtime, the Falcons scored the game winner on a two-on-one and upset the Kilty B’s in dramatic fashion.

The Kilty B’s play their next game Thurs, Jan 26 against the Pelham Panthers at Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
