Hamilton rolls past Welland 7-1 in pre-season

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton Kilty Bs rolled past the Welland Canadiens by the score of 7-1 Saturday night at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

Hamilton opened the scoring 11:29 into the opening period as Jake Proulx (Burlington, ON) setup Brodie McIntyre (Burlington, ON) for his first of the pre-season.

With less than a minute to go in the first, Justin Monteith (Burlington, ON) found the back of the net with Tristain Huinink (Woodstock, ON) and Matt Duarte (Hamilton, ON) adding helpers for the 2-0 lead.

Midway through the second period, Colin MacDougall (Carlisle, ON) setup Sam Shakes (Owen Sound, ON) who buried home his first of the night to make it 3-0.

Welland would get on the board with 7:40 left in the second period, as Connor Thompson-Dick found Ari Alakorpi who added his fourth goal of the pre-season with a power play marker.

In the third period it was all Hamilton as they answered with four more goals.

Seven minutes into the third period, the Kilty Bs Luke Johnston (Milton, ON) setup MacDougall for his second point of the game.

Midway through the period, Duarte buried one top shelf with assists going to Liam Galton (Erin, ON) and Nate Tivey (Dundas, ON). Just over a minute later, Shakers would record his second goal of the night with Nolan Underwood (Paris, ON) and MacDougall adding assists.

Hamilton closed out the scoring with 1:34 left in the third, as Connor Haynes (Sault Ste Marie, ON) recorded his first goal of the pre-season unassisted.

In goal, Hamilton starter Braedyn McIntosh (Milton, ON) turned aside 15 of the 16 shots he faced for the victory.

The Kilty Bs return to action Sunday afternoon when they take on the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins on the road road at 1:30pm.

Hamilton’s next home game is Monday night September 13th at 7pm when they host the Brantford Bandits at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena. Pre-season tickets are $5.
