The Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Pelham Panthers 6-1 on Thursday night at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

The B’s started a bit slow but ended up winning in convincing fashion, outshooting the Panthers 58-20.

In the first period, Hamilton took an early lead. Torin Hession deposited his third goal of the season – in his seventh game – past a sprawling Pelham goaltender to make it 1-0.

Later in the frame, the B’s cashed in again, this time it was Carson Lloyd on a shot from the left point.

The Panthers responded before the end of the first on a quick passing play by Jacob Goffredo and Ethan Ingram to set up Philip Caridi for his seventh of the year, cutting the B’s lead in half, 2-1.

Hamilton then quickly laid it on the Panthers in the second period, scoring just two minutes in on a Matthew Duarte shot assisted by Carson Lloyd.

The B’s continued the onslaught with 25 shots in the second, including Justin Monteith’s eighteenth goal of the season. Monteith beautifully tipped in the point shot by Marquise Brown to make it a 4-1 lead for Hamilton.

Duarte then potted his second of the game with two minutes to go in the second period. Duarte took a couple swipes at a bouncing puck in front of the net and eventually snapped one into the top right corner to make it 5-1.

A scary moment occurred in the period also when Hamilton’s Peter Dunning was sandwiched behind his own goal by two Pelham players. Dunning was down for a while but left the ice under his own power.

In the third, Hamilton hit a few posts and crossbars before Matthew Downie had a nice wrap around goal to seal the deal.

With this win, the Kilty B’s move to 31-6-4 on the season, good enough for second place in the conference behind St. Kitts.

The Hamilton Kilty B’s play their next game on Sat, Jan 28, when they’ll travel to Caledonia to take on the Pro-Fit Corvairs at the Haldimand County Caledonia Centre at 7:30 p.m.
