Kilty Bs hire Simpson as timekeeper

The Hamilton Kilty Bs have hired experienced timekeeper Matt Simpson for the 2021-22 season.

“There isn’t a lot that excites me, but having Matt as part of the Kilty B’s organization puts a smile on my face,” said General Manager Brian Rizzetto. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to the team having had the opportunity to timekeep at the amateur level as well as on the world stage.”

Simpson began scorekeeping in high school at White Oaks in Oakville and has been on the world stage at a number of major events.

He has been a timekeeper for Wheelchair Basketball Canada for a number of years as well as Burlington Eagles Rep Hockey.

He was timekeeper for the Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship gold medal game in 2014, the ParaPan American Games in 2015, Men’s U23 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in 2017 and the Evictus Games in 2017.

Matt has a passion for the game of hockey and has played sledge hockey for the past 21 years. Hockey also runs in the family as Matt’s relative Tyson Baker is an NHL linesman.

He also had the opportunity to be in the Gatorade commercials with NHL stars Sydney Crosby, Nathan McKinnon, Scott Hartnell, Logan Couture, Claude Giroux and Ryan Miller.
