Kilty B’s fall in overtime in Game Two

The Hamilton Kilty B’s lost 3-2 in overtime to the Fort Erie Meteors on the road on Saturday night.

All four goals in regulation were scored on the man advantage for both squads, with Fort Erie tying the game midway through the third to force OT and later win it.

Hamilton scored the opening goal five minutes in on the power play. Nathan Phillips received the pass from Dawson McKinney, waited then fired it past the Meteors goalie to take a 1-0 lead.

Fort Erie wouldn’t respond until late in the second period on a wild bounce off of a shot from Brad Ditillio. The Meteors first attempt was unsuccessful, but the puck hopped right to Luke Gualtieri in front who made no mistake to tied it at one.

The B’s took the lead back with under 30 seconds to go in the second thanks to Dawson McKinney’s third goal of this young series. Aaron Chiarot blasted a shot from the point that rebounded right to McKinney who put it into the open net and make it 2-1.

The Meteors tied it in the third period on a power play goal by Luke Gualtieri to force overtime.

The B’s were all over Fort Erie late in the third period but weren’t able to capitalize and steal the game.

It didn’t take long to decide it in extra time with Fort Erie scoring to win just 21 seconds in. Sam Barrett was the one who banged it home for the Meteors and tied the series at one game apiece.

Game three will take place Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.
